The Marion, North Carolina, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jose Carmen Joaquin Morales, 40, who tragically lost his life following a collision involving a pickup truck and a logging truck in Anderson County, South Carolina, on Monday afternoon.
According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 243 and Milford Road in Townville shortly after 2:00 p.m. Authorities reported that Morales was sitting on the tailgate of a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck as it attempted to cross Highway 243 when it was struck by a logging truck traveling along the highway. The force of the impact ejected Morales and another occupant from the vehicle.
