His passing has left family, friends, coworkers, church members, and countless young athletes grieving the loss of a man remembered for his unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and lifelong commitment to serving others.
Born on March 2, 1985, to David and Lisa Atkins, David graduated from Marysville High School with the Class of 2003 before earning a bachelor’s degree in HVAC from Ferris State University. It was there that he met Jennifer “Jenn” Griesmaier, the love of his life. The couple married on October 1, 2011, and built a home centered on faith, love, and family while raising their four children: Josie, David III, Jessalyn, and Joelle.
Professionally, David spent ten years with Johnson Controls before joining Consumers Energy, where his dedication, leadership, and work ethic earned him the role of supervisor. Colleagues admired his integrity, professionalism, and willingness to mentor others.
Outside of work, David’s greatest joy was his family. He treasured every opportunity to support his children and coach youth baseball with Marine City Little League and the Blue Water Titans, where he encouraged young players both on and off the field. A devoted member of Rock Church in Ira Township, he also participated in a mission trip to South Africa, reflecting his deep Christian faith and desire to serve others. Whether hunting, traveling with family, or volunteering in his community, David lived a life marked by generosity, humility, and purpose.
